The Boys: Trigger Warning – Is This VR’s Most Violent Game Yet?
With Season 5 of The Boys dropping in just a few weeks, the timing for a video game tie-in couldn’t be better. But this isn't some lazy mobile port or a generic console shooter. Tomorrow, March 26th, we’re finally getting The Boys: Trigger Warning, and it’s looking like one of the most unapologetically brutal things we've ever seen in a headset.
I’ve been keeping a close eye on this one because it’s being handled by ARVORE—the same team that gave us the Pixel Ripped series. Moving from retro-nostalgia to the gore-soaked world of Vought is a wild pivot, but based on the latest gameplay trailers, they’ve absolutely nailed the tone.
Become the Supe You Hate
The story doesn’t put you in the boots of a hero. Instead, you play as Lucas Costa, a regular guy whose life is ripped apart by a group of washed-up "Armstrong" Supes. When The Boys pull you back from the edge, you’re given a choice: stay a victim or juice up on Temp V.
From there, you’re thrust into an underground war against Vought. What’s really cool is that you aren't just a silent protagonist. You’re working directly with the heavy hitters. We’re talking full voice acting from the show's cast, including Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk) and Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy). Having Butcher bark orders in your ear while you're sneaking through a Vought lab is exactly the kind of immersion we’ve been waiting for.
Chaos, Stealth, and "Temp V" Powers
The gameplay feels like a mix of Hitman and BONELAB. You can play it quiet—using stealth and Vought tech to bypass security—or you can lean into the "Trigger Warning" part of the title and go full chaos.
Because you’re on Temp V, your powers are visceral. You can use telekinesis to rip environmental objects apart or fling enemies across the room like ragdolls. There are even moments where you get to use those iconic (and terrifying) laser eyes. The devs have leaned hard into the physics here; if you grab a Supe, they react realistically, and the combat doesn't shy away from the show's signature "head-popping" violence.
How to Play It
If you’re looking to jump in, here’s the deal. The game officially launches March 26, 2026.
Right now, it’s a Meta Quest exclusive (supporting Quest 3, 3S, and Pro), though a PS VR2 version is confirmed to be coming later this year. If you’re quick, you can still catch the pre-order price of £23.99 on the Meta Horizon Store. Once it goes live tomorrow, that price will likely jump to the standard £29.99.
This feels like a massive win for VR. It’s not just a licensed gimmick—it’s a deep, 10-hour campaign that actually expands on the world of the show. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it feels like to be a Supe (without the moral compass), this is your game.
