We just got a solid batch of VR announcements from the latest VR Games Showcase, and honestly, it feels like things are starting to pick up again for VR in a big way. A mix of familiar franchises and new ideas showed up, but a few titles definitely stood out.

Payday VR Is Finally Happening

A new Payday VR was one of the biggest moments from the showcase. If you’ve played Payday before, you already know the vibe—chaotic heists, loud firefights, and a lot of teamwork (or a complete lack of it). Bringing that into VR just makes sense.

From what was shown, it looks like it’s leaning into:

  • Close-up, intense shootouts: Feeling the weight of the heat.
  • Proper co-op gameplay: Coordinating with friends in real-time.
  • Deep immersion: Especially when things inevitably go wrong mid-heist.

If they can nail the controls and keep it smooth, this could easily become one of the go-to multiplayer VR games.

VMX Looks Janky… But Kinda Fun

Then there’s VMX, a BMX-style VR game that definitely caught attention—for better and worse. Let’s be real, it looks a bit janky right now. Some of the movement and animations don’t look fully polished yet, but at the same time... it actually looks fun.

There’s something about:

  • The speed of the downhill runs.
  • The trick system in a 3D space.
  • That slightly chaotic movement that only VR can provide.

It gives off that "this shouldn’t work, but it might actually be a blast" energy. If the devs tighten things up, this could be a sleeper hit.

Forefront Is Looking Seriously Impressive

Forefront was probably the most visually impressive out of the bunch. It’s going for a bigger, more serious feel with large-scale combat and a tactical approach.

From what we saw:

  • Bigger maps than most standard VR shooters.
  • Team-based gameplay that requires actual strategy.
  • Strong focus on realism and environmental immersion.

It looks like it’s trying to push VR shooters forward instead of just playing it safe.

Final Thoughts: VR Is Moving Again

Overall, this showcase felt like a step in the right direction. We’re seeing bigger ideas, more variety (like BMX), and games that aren’t afraid to experiment.

  • Payday VR could be a huge multiplayer hit.
  • Forefront is aiming for the "hardcore" crowd.
  • VMX might be the "just one more round" game of the year.

If this is the kind of stuff coming next, VR might be in for a really good run.
